Most professional football coaches aren't as good as the players they coach. It's all about the ideas dude.
In fact, in all of sports, it is rare that a "star" player goes onto coach successfully and very common for an average player to be a good coach. Sure, ideas are important. I've always thought very talented players get frustrated when they attempt to coach players less talented than themselves.
