2) If he returns or not it will depend entirely of his own personal interests, not of what a bunch of random fans want.

You have a good point but I don't know how to do it over the web. On the other hand, this is the place where chess players can throw their weight in.
Eventually, if this petition gathers a momentum, it may appear in the chess.com's news feed, and things will go from there.
