Can I use chess.com free pgn viewer offline to study games or do I need to purchase the software? Is it only for the content on chess, com? Is stockfish also a pgn viewer, fritz or chess base? How do I develop a library of games of my own as well as someone else's for study?

Okay Thanks. mgx960. So I need to get both Fritz and Chessbase then correct or just 1 of them?. I was using the free pgn viewer from chess.com then all of a sudden it quit working. It happened when I tried to delete some games out on my computer.

There are a number of freeware PGN viewers: ChessPad, ChessX, Scid vs. PC, Scid, etc.

Thanks for the information here. Also wondered about those and similar questions.... A free chess software for desktop that can view PGNs was what I was wanting for some time.
