Back in the early 1980s I belonged to the Franklin-Merchantile club in center city. It is fine old club with a long tradition stretching back to the "golden era". When I was a member Karl Dehmelt and the Costigan (?) brothers ruled the roost - they were all USCF senior masters (2400+).
Eagles fan here, I have no idea about chess clubs.
