Luftwaffe night ace Paul Gildner was engrossed in a game of chess. He recorded 48 aerial victories, 46 of which were scored at night. Gildner was killed on 24 February 1943 when his Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 (Werksnummer 4846) crashed into the ground after suffering engine failure. His radio operator, Unteroffizier Werner Hühn, survived by bailing out using a parachute. 

He is a member of the German Nazis who is an expert in chess and strategy.
