I'd like to ask how many of you would like to have a physical chess board but the movements of the other player will be from a player online.. I mean instead of your  play on websites, you can play on  a real chess board but you can the movements of your competitor will be same as a robot playing with you ,, but actually the movements will be from other online user ..

It's a project I'm thinking to build and I'd like to know your openions as chess players.

Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX37LFv8jWY perhaps?

Ofcourse it would still be a fun project to build, but it's been done :)

And here how to make on: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-an-Arduino-Powered-Chess-Playing-Robo/

Allthough the design can still be improved. They use a arduino mega, but you could just use a pic/arduino mini with shiftregisters.

Hehe, that is not fake. And I assume it's a prototype, proof of concept that is ugly to safe on materials.

it's sth. like this one :

more close to the real world than other posts you replied with , but this one in the link I attached is a robot playing with you .. you can get levels same as computer but after that you can't get different levels ..
but I'd like to develop it to be connected to the website so that you can play with the users using your physical chess board ..
Hope you get the idea ..

Well on this site you can forget about it. Not even dgt-boards are supported. You would have to use other chess-servers that use ICS for example. But that can certainly be done, (F)ICS is simple, but almost no documentation on it. But there are enough example and open source clients to look at.

Btw, your example is similiar to mine, except the arm and motorised parts are under the table in the links I posted. Also they don't work with servo's but with strong magnets. But principle stays the same. Move the arm to the location, raise/lower arm to pickup/attach to magnet.

All in all a really fun project to get your mind and hands on! Hope it works out for you.

Thanks for your comments ..
But I thought that Bbuilding an arm to move is complicated and not comfortable for the player ..
I'm not building a new thing but I'm trynig to develop it to be more comfortable :)

Yeah that's why I like the solution with the magnets and reedcontacts, under the board. But it would be cool if you could find an even better way! Or cheaper, because their solution is still pretty expensive. Allthough they could save 30-50 dollars/euro by using a normal pic/atmel with a couple shiftregisters for starters.
