knights

they can fork and move on both colors and are crucial In endgames

Bishops

They can fork and multitask better than a knight.

I mean it depends. Bishops are long-range pieces and can control diagonals across the board, while knights have a unique L-shaped move that allows them to jump over other pieces. Bishops are generally considered more valuable in open positions due to their ability to move freely along diagonals, while knights can be effective in closed positions or when positioned in the centre of the board. Ultimately, the value of bishops versus knights depends on the specific position and the overall strategy of the game.

Depends if the bishops can be opened up they are typically better long term (usually in endgames but also in middle games sometimes )

So they are realy good when you have either plenty of pawn breaks that open the bishops up and positions where they can control a good chunk of pieces and pawns and squares (usually in end games but not always )

Knights are better usually in closed positions where they can jump around and blockaid or fork or control pieces (like trapping them) (or when they get you a better position )

Just depends really
