Thanks :) And why not at a poker tournament? You could say that Nakamura is dressed for that occasion:

My ex-husband taught me when we first married, but would never play.

There's always a longer story, but.....at marriage counseling prior to my divorce.

What?  I find chess soothing.....and it pissed him off!!  Lol

State Checkers Championship?

(Wouldn't want them to think we're gloating, just because we can remember how several different pieces moves. Would we?)

Don`t do it if your invited to a sex orgy.

Are you kidding?! I don't orgy, but it seems to me that those who do are not obsessed with propriety and social convention. Lol

But, please. A good game of chess could easily START (and certainly has started) a seriously intense frolic. Of course, some people get this and some people do not.

Smart is crazy sexy, and with the right opponent, so is chess. ;)

Perhaps while on a busy road trip and you have no clue where you are and need full concentration on going back in the right direction.

Chess goes where I go.  And if someone doesn't play chess at my funeral, I will be incredibly disappointed.  Think I'd consider haunting people.  Lol

Someone already said funeral (In fact, you typed that. I need to read before I type things!) Darn. Cause I thought of that while I was typing.

Ummmm, don't play on chess.com while you're in an OTB game with someone else. Someone does this at my chess club. First of all, it's rude AF. Second, it makes the other person feel really dumb especially if they're losing (but that may be their own fault). Ha

So me, trevor, the instructor, and anyone else I'm missing that loves to play multiple games at once?

it wouldn't hurt to bring it with you just in case. just ask the birthday boy/girl if it's allright if you can bring it out.

Squarely

I think bringing a set to a funeral would depend on the rating of the deceased.  Also, you would probably get some funny looks at a nude beach, street riot, rock concert, or a trial where you are on the jury, or the judge.  Definitely do not bring it on a first date or to any event featuring bridge, poker, backgammon or Go.  I would not suggest taking it to a job interview either.
