A brain without sugar is not a brain...or however that goes. Fischer reportedly drank a lot of juice while he played chess.

what kind of juice?

Magnus Carlson likes a bit of juice. Or rather a lot of juice...

Apperently, juice helps your thought process... I personally don't go for that, having beaten 3 people recently in a tournament who had juice with them... 2 of which were higher rated than myself.

i would recommend orange over apple just because of the well known side effect of apple...

I wonder if it works with that combined juice, like Orange Pinapple Banana, or a Screwdriver . . . . . . . .

That woud just make me have to go to the bathroom and lose on time.

What is  Screwdriver?

Is it some kind of weird American concoction?

my usual advice when someone sais something like that to me: "write a book about it"

Perhaps some Fruit Juice?

i like d sound of screwdriver!

I dont like to eat or drink anything right before a chess game, only well in advance. I find that having part of my bodies energy diverted to digesting whatever it was I drank/ate doesnt allow me to play at my full potential.

well the idea has alot of merit, however juice lacks caffeine, so i prefer soda like Pepsi or coca cola because that way i get my sugar jolt and caffeine...of course i would prefer a good cup of starbucks coffee with cream and sugar, but often that is not practical.

We drink that in Canada, too - but most people I know just call it "vodka and orange"!

     .

Canada has some many twists on US drinks - or the US has many twists

on Canadian drinks.  It took me a couple months to find a place to get

a good "Caesar" here near Chicago.  A Caesar is an awesome variation

on what is called a "Bloody Mary" in the states.

1. Glucose hightens the perfomance of the brain for about one hour;

2. I've never found caffeine to give anything to my game; they only

shuts down the thing-that-makes-you-sleepy-receptors.

Thats right!  Let's give credit where credit is due!

I owe my love of Caesars to Onosson and Rael, my North of the border

          buddies.
