Upvote / comment if you find this annoying too! Love Chess.com. But, if there’s just one thing I’d love to see improved, is could we reduce the number of players who leave a game without resigning? Surely there's some sort of function that could mitigate this problem? It happens a lot — and more often than not, as the winning player, I’m stuck waiting for the full 60 seconds while the game times out - Super annoying. Upvote / comment if you find this annoying too! Of course, I completely understand the need to give players with a bad internet connection a fair chance — that’s important. But maybe the system could detect if a player consistently "disconnects" when in a losing position. If a pattern like that emerges, perhaps they could receive a friendly reminder at the start of each game: "When quitting a game, please consider resigning instead of just leaving — it’s a gesture of respect that saves your opponent from waiting out the clock." Or perhaps even something a little more on the nose? "It looks like you’ve left several games without resigning. If this is due to a connection issue, we understand. But if you’re exiting games manually, please consider using the resign button instead — it’s a respectful gesture that saves your opponent from having to wait for the clock to run out." Alternatively, I’ve noticed that if a player fully closes the app or browser, the game sometimes times out within about 10 seconds. That’s much better. Maybe the system could distinguish between truly quitting and just switching to a new game without resigning — and if a pattern is detected, temporarily prevent the player from starting a new game until they return to resign the previous one. That could encourage better etiquette without being too harsh. Any thoughts folks?

I admit I used to let this upset me. Now i just accept it as part of online chess. And is why all I play is Correspondence chess.

You can report players for stalling/quitting games so that some action might be taken by the staff

As for me I like the approach used on lichess:
- you left a game without a resignation? Here is your immediate restriction to play for an hour
- you left again? Here is your immediate restriction to play for several hours
and so on
