playing against the computer

I am trying to play the computer but when I push the button the screen comes empty. I have removed and reinstalled Java - I checked to make sure my in system tray icon is pushed. I emptied the java cache bin. Any other suggestions

Are you using Internet explorer for your browser?  If so set it to compatibility mode for the chess.com site.

You may also need to add chess.com to your trusted sites list under security. 

I have vista on my computer so does that effect me playing computer? how do I add chess.com to the security? thanks for your help

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Security (tab) and select Trusted Sites hit the Sites button and add chess.com to the list.
