Playing against yourself

When you play against yourself, do you always end up a draw since you know both sides strategy? Just a fun curiosity.

A draw is not necessarily the result at all. It is easy for one side to blunder and for the other side to catch it.

I always lose. The 'me' I want to win usually over presses or makes  some other mistake, while 'lesser me' triumphs !

Not from move one, but from a certain position, perhaps from a book? Once I usually lost by playing the strong side. Now I usually do better. Btw, a great way to lose time, so I try to avoid it.

When I play against myself, I want one side to win so I resign the other side...the games never go anywhere

I used to play myself but my other self would never do a rematch after winning or would sometimes just sit there and let the clock run out in a losing position so I blocked him.

Hilarious responses. Just what I thought. They say Sicilian opening is the best, but I can beat it easily if I want to and if I play against myself.

White doesn't win every game in the sicilian though does he?

When I analyze my daily games I have to stop and ask myself how would I play the other side. Sometimes you have a feeling what your opponent will play after 4 or 5 games. But these fellings can be wrong.

What if you changed "against" to "with"?  Would that be easier?  evil.png

No I always win.

When I was younger and first discovered chess notation, I would simulate imaginary matches.  So Mario would be White and Sonic would be Black, for example.  I would give each a certain characteristic.  Mario likes jumping, so he favours Knights.  Sonic is really fast, so he favours fast development and gambits.   It was fun both creating these personalities and trying to figure out who was the best.

Because I has just learned chess notation, I had several pages of these games recorded.  Most have been lost over the years, though I found one recently.  My first thought was, “Wow, I remember doing this.  It was a lot of fun.”  Good times.  (My second thought was, “Wow, Mario and Sonic were really bad at chess.”)

There's a scam u could play in daily chess. U start an even number of games, then copy ur white opponents move on the board ur playing white and vice versa. U are guaranteed to win AT LEAST half of the total games. I don't do dat just saying
