Has there been anybody that's actually studied the winning percentage of playing white over blakc? I can see how white would have a bigger advantage in high level players since they know how to make their moves count, but at my low level-recreation only playing I don't really notice a difference. In some aspects, I actually prefer black, as I think I make fewer blunders. Maybe it's just psychological and tend to play safer, I don't know. Just curious to know the thoughts of those who are much wiser than me.
I have been playing " white " vs computer for years - never even thought to play black - but recently had to play " black " vs. another human - I was surprised how much it messed with me.
I think that the more you know openings the more you probably want to play white, and I think bongcloudftw also has a decent point that at my level, what pretty much plays the same game, meaning that in a sense, it's almost as if black goes first. I think predictability probably has something to do with it.
