About 25 games seems perfect. I strongly suggest rather than just playing single games, you start joining tournaments. You get a much greater sense of accomplishment when moving up in a group, and there's more excitement to it, rahter than just winning or losing a single game.
Playing many games... Bad?
I recently saw a post from a statician on another chess playing site where he did a study of players from the site of games played compared to playing strength and he found no correlation. Basic conclusion was that just playing more chess does not make you a better player so playing a bunch of games probably wont help your game. I think actual improvement comes from the time you are not playing So that would mean studying tactics, endgames, etc and your own games. So I think it is a matter of playing just enough games to maintain your skill and having enough time to study chess to improve it and having enough games to chew on in post game analysis.

Im all for tournaments... Only playing that now, after i got the first 5 games out of the way... Actually tournaments is part of the "problem", since i have to struggle a bit not to join the many interresting tournaments in here... I probably wouldnt have joined the ranks of paying members if it wasnt for them...
Hi guys... Thx for all the answers...
Im currently playing 23 games, and have decided to keep the number around 20-25 games for the moment as it seems to give me just enough action to keep me busy without lowering the level of my game to much....
I can relate to the problem Payet_alexandre talk about in his post further up about losing your masterplan for the game when playing to many. Often i find myself having to invent the wheel all over again, with each new move in a complicated position... But in the end i hope this will make me a pretty good wheelmaker, even if some games suffers from a lack of a masterplan...
