good advice.
from someone that is NOT new. (and that is most of us). its an old and weak strategy to quickly bring out the queen for some kind of unexpected checkmate/attack.
as with everything if you are a Newby and playing someone pretty strong- they will (successfully) break every rule of thumb (you've never heard of) and still win.
but breaking those rules of thumb means they are taking chances. counter that strategy by playing slow and really studying your move from move 1.
are you developing your peices, do you see what threat the opponent is making, are you trying to think a couple moves ahead? and perhaps even More pivotal are your carefully considering ALL your opponents options.
being beat and trying to really understand what is really going on in a game is very instructive. and being slow and thoughtful and is Exactly why strong players plead that the beginners play SLOW CHESS and really explore the game afterwards.
if someone is playing the queen move 2. they are making a risk. if you are improving rapidly, have the commitment to play slowly and carefully, in a games long enough to not lose on time... perhaps you will show them that you are Not the "Patzer mark" they think you are.
but all too often. beginner dive into blitz where they are simply too bad at chess to spot the obvious tactics.
