Please. don't refuse to play on...

Please, GIVE UP when you have a completely loosing position, instead of refusing to make another move (with the hope of provoking the opponent to log-off, and hence "winning" the game).

All too many players do this. I find it revolting.

If you hang your queen, or even a piece, with no compensation, drop the game immediately.

Hanging in there is all part of the game.  If you haven't checkmated me and I still have moves to make than you can just sit there mister.

Skwerly

*losing.

There's a difference between playing it out and just running your clock down or disconnecting.

But you're right, I've decided to play well beyond what I've always considered resignable up until now after a) after Fritz telling me that twice recently I'd resigned positions that I could have drawn or better if I'd looked harder b) playing on anyway only for my opponent to blunder horribly and lose a completely won position.

If a player wants to keep on going in a lost game no problem crush him.

You play a time control of 3|3.

We don't care.

What I mean is this: REFUSING to make any further moves. Thats the issue here.

Didn't you agree to the time control? Isn't your opponent's time their resource, to use as they see fit? Maybe they wish to use it to go make a ham sandwich.

I know what you mean. I love the beach, but I hate the sand.

moduspawnens

Bad sportsmanship nothing more nor less.

How can you argue against me? If someone hangs the queen and then refuses to play on ... well, that is idiotic. Play chess, damn it

What about a mate in 1, at which point people I play like to leave.  When there is one reply that gives mate, I premove that and go afk too, but usually I can't do that.

Cry_Wolf

yes, it's poor sportsmanship to just stop playing in a lost position. No, you can't do anything about it.
