I am currently considering compiling a database of my own to study with. I have decided to use ChessBase, considering how popular it is. My request lies not in the database, but in the games that will be in it.
I realize that many serious chess players have databases with millions of games. For me, this is overkill and is unnecessary.
What I am looking for:
a) Games between GMs. The more, the better, but I don’t need all of them (a few thousand is plenty).
or
b) Some of the great(est) games played. Several hundred to a few thousand games is good. Again, I don’t need a “perfect” set (it’s all a matter of opinion anyway), but I want some games that I can analyze and say “Wow” (and that shouldn't be very hard, considering how easily impressed I am).
I also realize that I can be fairly vague when asking questions sometimes, so do ask me to clarify if necessary.
Just curious: What database do you use, what do you usually do with it, and how many games do you have?
Thanks again everyone for helping me out.
