Bullet chess is chess because it is still on the 64 squares following the same rules I have to admit that even though I like rapid better

Bullet chess is still chess up to a certain point.

Real bullet chess is good moves played fast.

Bad bullet chess is bad moves played fast.

The only reason bullet chess isn't considered "real chess" is because people hate dirty tricks, which is obviously more common in bullet.

Still real chess, imho, but in terms of training rapid is significantly better... (obv)

Of course: Rapid && Classical for training purposes and improvement (especially Rapid to get used to slower time controls), Blitz when you don't have time to play Rapid, but not enough little to be forced playing Bullet; Bullet when you just want to play chess but you can't/don't want to play Rapid or Blitz. Usually I play Classical OTB though, and I don't think I ever played one here on Chess.com.

Actually blitz is probably better for training than rapid

If you just want practice

as long as you do training games against like a coach or something

Unless you are a beginner than rapid is (most likely ) better

Bullet is chess for smart people.

You need to be both a good player and manage your time well.

I’d like to know the percentage of bullet games won by checkmate vs by time. When I watch bullet games ending with a few seconds left only (which I see a lot) it feels like the essence of the game is thrown out the window and that a race against time is the main goal.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but it seems that bullet offers too little time to checkmate thus changing the nature of the game’s ultimate goal which of course is checkmate.

Ok everyone i did some research and played about 10 bullet games. Honestly it was fun, but in a video game type way. Many times I was just braindead moving my rook and hanging pieces, just for them not to be taken. It's chess alright, but with 0 thought, and more like a video game

The_GeckoWZ

NONE OF THOSE GAMES I WON BY CHECKMATE

I dare you try to get to those elite arenas on lichess (2200 + bullet) you will have to do much more than just shuffle pieces

FMLarry

playing real bullet chess is the balance of speed and accuracy

The higher you go, both increase, usually

Specialization in only one results in either ultrabullet or classical

One should NEVER stop being nerdy. It's the first line of defense against cretins.

@BigChessplayer665 I'm kinda bad at chess and worse at bullet so I'll pass

The_GeckoWZ

Also that clock throwing chess game sounds sick I wish that actually existed

The_GeckoWZ

Some games I did trap their queen and they resigned so I didn't flag everyone tho

Bullet is fake chess.

It's not about playing the best move.... you win a bullet game by making 100 blunders and STILL WIN on time by being 1 second ahead of your opponent.

I can't even make 10 blunders and win unless I'm lucky 💀
