Will it affect his rapid and blitz rating (2812)?
Â
He's unrated in rapid and blitz (2812 was his classical rating when he retired), but he should end up with a rating in rapid and blitz in September, and will have one for a year (interesting, that could qualify him for the Rapid and Blitz world championships!).
Â
EDIT: FIDE first published rapid and blitz ratings in 2012, so there's no chance he could have got a rating.

Hey, I just realized something... in the Grand Prix Aronian has a realistic chance to become the new World #1 (and Mamedyarov has an outside chance). It would take a very good performance by Aronian, or a near-perfect performance by Mamedyarov, but the former at least is realistically possible.

Last time posting this.
@macer75, it'd be kinda hard for Mamedyarov (8/9 maybe?), but yes, Aronian might do it with a reaaally good tournament, 7/9. Just estimating the numbers tho.
