I'm a big chess fan and Magnus fan. You got a problem with that? It looks like you're jealous of all the attention he's getting here in the chess.com forums. You probably wish that nobody would talk about him, so you come in here and pick on people who DO want to talk about him.
Magnus is like the Justin Bieber of chess. There are a ton of Bieber nuthuggers and even more Bieber HATERS. But love him or hate him, people invest time to talk (or trash talk) about him.
The fact is... You cared enough about Magnus Carlsen to come in here make a couple responses. You cared enough about a Carlsen topic to read the posts that I have made and make a couple responses. So, he HAS had an impact (however small it may be) on your day. He just made you "waste" 5 minutes of 24 hours today.

It probably increased more when Anand became champ. How many children from India took up the game at that point? I would imagine it is far more than took up the game when Fischer became champ.
