positional sacrifice
You learn by experience. Against higher rated opponents. Other seasoned players. Knowledge, through studying does lessen the gap depending on the quality plus being able to apply it. But the straight up best advice I'd say is investigate on your own. Analyse the game without prejudice. Block out the players and just go through it as if you're going to play them tomorrow. For both sides.
How do you learn to play move like B x h6 that Caruana played against Anand? (Candidates tournament 2016-round 10. dt. 23 March 2016.link-https://www.chess.com/news/caruana-beats-anand-now-leads-with-karjakin-at-candidates-9637) How much is calculation? How much is instinct or gut feeling? Or psychology to scare your opponent? Some GMs did not agree with the , move but it worked against a 2780 rated ex world champion. And how to defend against such move or how to prevent the opponent from making such move? Will someone explain? Thanks
