For Modern Chess Sets nothing beats the Chavet knights!

I just hope I can find a nice set.

The old Cavalier hard plastic knights are beautiful in my opinion.

I bought a couple sets, took them apart and  spent hours figuring the best way to add weight to them.

After lots of trial and error, I finally ended up using bbs, coins and glue.

It weighs 65 ounces now!

I love the box shaped figure on these knights and the downturned heads:

Stylized, striking lines, very chessy!

Here's a nice knight I've had my eye for awhile now, the Alban knight from The Chess Piece out of Florida. The design is a nice blend of the classic and the stylized.

Very nice Lou, what's the King height of the set with these Knights?  Can you post a link to the set? Thanks

For my stylized nominee, I offer the House of Chess Encore knight. This set is also available from other vendors under different monikers. I wanted to have at least one stylized knight in my collection and the Encore knight fit the bill. It was attractive (remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder), well crafted, and sold for a reasonable price when I bought it 3 years ago. Plus, it came with a nice storage box and free shipping! I was impressed with the piece-to-piece consistency of such complex carvings. I also like how the African padauk has darkened to rich burgundy hue over time.

Great looking Knioghts Lou, thanks for the gorgeous pics

Great forum Lou, here's Knights from my Cantonese ivory set. They look similar to the Leuchars "Cook" ivory Knights

GNM,

I've always loved your "Green Cantonese," a most unique knight. Never seen one quite like it!

My pleasure sharing!

Here is the HOS Golden Collector chessmen with the antiqued boxwood version of this gorgeous Knight

Beautiful set Mike! I just checked it out on HOS and though a bit pricey, one could justify it's purchase considering the 23,000.00 savings over the Oleg version! Thanks for sharing.

Hard to beat this one for all around blend of style and tradition. I don't want too ornate, but I don't want a block either.

Beautiful Knight Antonio. Why don't you do a post with more pics of this knight and the rest of the set?
