For Modern Chess Sets nothing beats the Chavet knights!
I just hope I can find a nice set.
The old Cavalier hard plastic knights are beautiful in my opinion.
I bought a couple sets, took them apart and spent hours figuring the best way to add weight to them.
After lots of trial and error, I finally ended up using bbs, coins and glue.
It weighs 65 ounces now!

Here's a nice knight I've had my eye for awhile now, the Alban knight from The Chess Piece out of Florida. The design is a nice blend of the classic and the stylized.

I wanted to have at least one stylized knight in my collection and the Encore knight fit the bill. It was attractive (remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder), well crafted, and sold for a reasonable price when I bought it 3 years ago. Plus, it came with a nice storage box and free shipping! I was impressed with the piece-to-piece consistency of such complex carvings. I also like how the African padauk has darkened to rich burgundy hue over time.

Beautiful set Mike! I just checked it out on HOS and though a bit pricey, one could justify it's purchase considering the 23,000.00 savings over the Oleg version! Thanks for sharing.
