I loved this part:

"and if you're the kind of person who likes bullet, then you should like premoves."

even elvis sang about  the evils of suspicion in between the  burgers and the  fried banana and bacon sangers

no point in being a high priestess of tristesse though

he he, it's rather interesting to me, so I studied it a bit.

I know something about Great Trek, battle of blood river, Andries Pretorius, Piet Retief, Gert Maritz, Majuba hill, Jameson raid, Cecil Rhodes, Uitlanders,Witwatersrand Gold Rush, Paul Kruger, Jan Smuts, ZAR, Orange Free state ... Wink

fireballz

well that is wonderfull, its strange how outsiders view our history.  I met an american once that did the same than you. He did a blog, and I learned many intresting facts. you are most welcome:)

For some reason the computer didn't put in the funny picture of a snake coiled around a chess piece that Estragon had put, and which I thought I had got in the quote. What's WRONG with these computers??!! Yell

Vous avez raison, mon ami. :)

Premoves are BS.  Particularly in BULLET matches.  Why even have a bullet match if you're going to allow someone to move 15 times in a second ?   All it leads to is chasing the King around the board, where the player with the premoves doesn't have to outthink his oponent... they only have to run the opposition clock out - which they can do without fear of penalty.

The only way an opposition can beat this is by breaking the premove and forcing a considered move - thus taking time away from the premoving player.  That is not a level playing field.

The idea of bullet matches is STILL to out think your opponent in the allotted time - not outrun them!

At the very least, premoves should be an optional extra when seeking a game, so that others can avoid them like the plague.

Here's the suggestion that came out of the above argument:

i like eriks option suggestion (post 68) to create a filter for opting in / out of pre moves at the seek stage

i find it ironic that pre moves have been introduced in live chess over the last few years as a pre move is anything but live because it takes no time off the clock
