PRO Chess League Needs Help
I would be interested in seeing some kind of "pro" league where individual matches were played. For example, if you want to do the country thing, you pick one player from two countries and have them play a two game match. If they tie like in knockout format, then you play rapid and blitz. I am not saying to make the two games as long as a typical classical game, but perhaps 40 minutes or so to start out with and some more time added later.
This would be a great way to introduce lesser known players who are strong.
Well in the Marseille Migraine fan club we are trying to improve the coverage of the Marseille games. If you join the club you can read the first match report. I think that if it became a more official role then it would be quite possible to improve it because it would then change from a side activity to a more central one. Are you looking for that kind of help or is it too specific ?Dedicated fans seem like the future for chess.com coverage of the NSPL.

Just an FYI - there are some legal concerns here that I hope you've double checked (I've been doing this research for CU right now and it's slightly more complicated than I hoped)...
@Destroyer_Mark_1420,

Hi Danny, I would really love to get back into doing this sort of thing again (and to put some jabs towards Zibbit and Greg lol) but I am opening the Tucson Chess Center in a couple of weeks and my free time will be spent on getting the club ready for a February 3rd Grand Opening. You guys can definitely count me in next year for sure, just let me know what you need and who you need covered.

You seem to know what is going on. What does Danny need help with specifically? Is it playing, broadcasting, or moderating?
If it is with broadcasting, one thing I ask is that broadcasters spend more time on one game instead of jumping around a lot. I like to consider different moves and lines, so when I see an interesting position I have to close out the broadcast and focus my attention more on that game.
You may not realize this but they have several people broadcasting the same games. This increases the more games that are covered. For example, on chess.com they might show Norway playing and then switch over to the US later. Another broadcaster on Twitch might start with US and then go to Norway.
What I am suggesting is that they team up and one does Norway and one does US for example. Then you can switch on your own. There is a lot of overlap, people broadcasting the same stuff.
If that is needed for streaming issues, that is one thing, but again the broadcasters and Danny may not realize what is going on at the same time their broadcast is on.
Oh, if you want to hear @DanielRensch talk some Danny Rensch, tune into the Coffeehouse Blunders, the world's most fantastic podcast.
(Just don't tell him that @JamesMontemagno is the true star of the show.)

Thank you for all your great work, Steve!
Sorry bud, that's a little too young to "work" for our company, even as a volunteer.
BUT I'm happy to gift you a sub. Remind me next time I'm live!

Hey Everyone,
If you're reading this forum post than you already know... Danny is posting his first thread topic in a long, long time ...
Seriously, the PRO Chess League is awesome. It's so much fun to be a part of. And we believe, it's the future of online chess becoming a legitimate eSport.
BUT there's a lot more to it than watching Magnus crush people or our commentators mispronounce names during the live show. There are so many things that go into making the league work smoothly, as well as providing the fans with the awesome coverage they deserve.
And we need YOUR help! Just about everyone who "works" for the league has a full time job with Chess.com that has, well, nothing to do with the league! That makes it even harder, sometimes, for our team to focus on certain tasks that go into making the league great. That's where you COULD come in!
We are looking for super motivated people who also share our love for the league, believe it's awesome, and want to help (for little to no compensation since that's what a volunteer does, right? Sorry, this is my first time...) make sure certain awesome things get done.
Plus, you'll get:
- Diamond Membership during the season
- Special Staff Icon by your name during the season (they're really sexy!)
- Behind-the-Scenes look at what it takes to operate and manage the league
- To hang out in our Chess.com Slack Room with Greg Shahade (he loves people!)
- Other work opportunities with Chess.com should things go well
Yes, like all roles with Chess.com, who knows where it could lead! If you crush it, Super-Intern style, there is never a shortage of things to do, and one day, you might replace me!
So what say you? Interested in helping?
