since when can you promote a Pawn to a second Queen?

my Friend just promoted his Pawn to a second queen so now he is playing against me with to Queens.

Cant you only promote a Pawn to one of the peices i have taken during gameplay?

You can promote a pawn into any piece you want (except a king of course)

You can have up to 9 queens if you can pull it off.

9 queens would be good

9 queens could be easy for stalemate.

 u shouldn't have allowed him to promote another pawn any way!!   :)
