Psychology. . .again

Just wondering. . .

See what you think. . .

What would you think could be the psychological reaction of a darn good chess player if all of the sudden you exchange his tradicional pieces for some fancy designed ones. . . like, let´s say, cruzaders against arabs, or North against South armies, or some of those modern art, hard to interpret, figures (at least for me), or those nice ivory carved Chinese pieces?

Could he (she) think as usual?

It is so pleasing to observe the Staunton pieces. . .

trysts

If it was corporate do-nothing-managers against wait staff, it may inspire me to do betterLaughing

They would probably do well. They would just need to close their eyes and play blindfolded.

That's a queen? I thought it was a pawn!!

Also I remember this statement by a grandmaster---whenever I give a simul and some guy brings in an elaborite, ornate chess set----as a general rule, I know this guy is going to play like a piece of s###!

I am not a "darn good" chess player, rather a mediocre one, but  I hate all those fancy chess sets. They are for sitting in someone's den or living room to be looked at, not for playing chess.
