Hi everyone!
I’m currently working on a personal project related to chess, and I’m really interested in how rating systems and matchmaking algorithms work—especially systems like the one on Chess.com.
I want to clarify that I'm not trying to copy or reverse-engineer anything, but rather understand the general principles behind fair matchmaking and rating adjustments. My goal is to build a simplified model for educational purposes, possibly for use in school tournaments or a small learning platform.
Are there any public resources or documentation you'd recommend for understanding the concepts behind Elo/Glicko rating systems or how player pools are managed?
Thanks in advance for any guidance! I really respect what Chess.com has built and would love to learn from it in an ethical and constructive way.
