Just posting so the thread doesn't get lost in the forums... I really need an answer.
You do not get a provisional FIDE rating. You must score one point against two rated players, then finish 9 games with rated players. At this point, you will have an official rating.

Is this in FIDE or only USCF? And what I really wanted to know is how is it calculated. I mean let's say I win against a 1600, lose against a 1800 and draw with a 1700. How is the rating calculated?
I'm currently playing in my second OTB tournament. After how many games do you get a rating and how is the provisional rating calculated? Can anyone answer my question?
