I think you should be okay. I looked at your recent games and you seem to be playing at least 800 level strength. just be aware that playing a game under pressure is very from playing with your dad or playing online. you might miss a win or 2 for that reason I definitely did when I first played tournament. good luck

So, for the past 6 months I have delved into the chess world, dedicating quite a bit of time to it. In about 4-5 months I've played over 2,100+ games, mainly 5|5 and 15|10. My blitz rating has gone from 400 to 900+, and the same goes for my rapid (all though at one time I was rated over 1000 in rapid, too many drunken nights playing lol). I've spent a lot of time analyzing my games and improving my play, but it all seems like it's for nothing.
None of my friends are interested in it. I've looked up some of the chess clubs near me, and I haven't heard good things about them. Apparently lots of "Notre Dame douche-bags."
I came across a tournament, that was open to all ages, in a town near me, at a high school. I emailed the director of the tournament and told him that I'm fairly new to chess, that I never played in a tournament, that I'm 23 years old, and asked him if it was an appropriate tournament to join. He said that it was, but there were not many adults to enter, and that some people don't like facing people younger than them. He suggested I go to a new chess club that's opening in the town I live in tonight, to "Meet some of the local players."
I registered with the USFC and enrolled in the tournament. Looking at the rosters, all of my opponents have rating between 600-1000.
My question is, am I in over my head?
I've only played a handful of over the board games with my dad. I don't have a chess clock or anything like that.
The tournament is Saturday.
Any advice would be appreciated!
