Hi everyone,
I am looking to pick up London System as White, and was wondering what would be the best way to approach this.
What I think I need are opponents to play out the first 10-20 moves of the game with repeatedly so I can get a feeling for where the pieces go, common traps, and general ideas.
The problem (and I have had similar problems when trying to learn other openings) is that playing rated games has too much variability (e.g., 50/50 chance of playing as Black, long games where the time is spent on middle / end game because I don't like playing bullet/blitz, etc.), and unrated game challenges as White don't seem to get filled.
Is there a good strategy to do this, other than "playing against myself" (which is not a great way to immitate what opponents play at my level IMO)?
BTW, I do know that the priority at this stage should not be memorizing openings, and I am working on tactics and other aspects of my game, but I'd like to hit the ground running with this new opening when I hit rated games, and so wanted to spend a few hours ironing out the basics.
Thanks
EDIT: wanted to add to this, I am not necessarily looking for memorizing the book here. I find that most opponents at my level do not stay with the book for more than the first 5-ish moves. Instead, the game quickly deviates, often with significant inaccuracies, and it is this that is hard to copy with an engine trainer that spits out positions at you and makes you guess the move.
