Is hard to me understand why the crime codes don't considered the cheating at sports events with monetary prices as kind of criminal fraud.

A lifetime ban there isn't right but hey, Doesn't chess.com lifetime ban for cheating? I mean people can change.

Agreed. The penalty should be the same as what he would have received if he had embezzled (in the USA) the amount of money awarded as 1st prize. Why the USA? Well, we shouldn't chop his hands off. So at least a 10-year suspension (since FIDE can't imprison anyone).

I guess I'm not understanding the bits a bout the money.

He was caught mid tournament. He won no money.

But if he had not been caught, he probably would have won the money.  Attempted theft is a crime, even if the perp doesn't get away with it.
