The "sticks and stones" maxim is perhaps one of the most obnoxious, ill thought out and demonstrably false dictums ever begotten. A cliche no doubt created for children by children and generally addressed to children. Any thinking adult is aware of the power words possess. You could paper the world with the names of those who have committed suicide from verbal abuse. You don't have to hit someone to make their lives a misery.

You talk like that in real life? lol

What's so funny? Undecided

Walter0508

you should report this kind of behaviour, the admins of chess.com do take this seriously. I came across a guy reciently who had not played a single game since he had joined but spent his time on the site abusing people and sprouting his fascist views on the forum,i told him what i thought of his views and his behaviour then challenged him to play ,he was obviously being watched by the admin as he only managed a couple of moves before he was removed from the site and good ridance we dont need that type of person.

In general think reassuring response from chess.com membership to racism/extremism.

Is shame there is ever any occasion where that has to be evoked.

The world's a big place and always will be a few numpties around.

Yes, I do talk like that. What is it that threatens you? Undecided

Obama=president of United states or, Michael Jackson= famous artist...

and yet everyone of different genders, size coulour look and intelligence still respects them.

I respect neither of them. Barack Obama is a complete failure as a President and Michael Jackson was a sex offender.

DrSpudnik

I guess you can't please everybody!

For sure! We come here to play chess as part of an international community and we need to show mutual respect. The only battles should be over the board :)

I for one, don't even see the color. They're all the equal in my opinion. (Except the pawns, pawns are cannon fodder until the 7th rank.)

Last night before I went to bed I started thinking that we should feminize this chess world. It is the time for us to make pink vs blue pieces. Cause I really love wearing pink ;):D

Who's with me?

I'm pretty sure you can set the colors of the pieces and board however you please.

TheGrobe

Yeah, but they don't always. Is it really too much to ask that people have enough consideration not to act so hurtfully towards each other?

TheGrobe

I'm not disagreeing, but even if I have thick enough skin to let it roll off of me it doesn't make the individual hurling the insults less of a jerk. Racism is still worthy of contempt, even when ineffective.

I'm about sick of people playing "the race card" CRYING LIKE BABIES over the most innocuous of insults.  Grow a pair and stop crying about "rayczm"! All right EVERY HUMAN IS RACIST THEY JUST DON'T ADMIT IT.  IT'S HARDWIRED TO TRUST THE IN GROUP AND DISTRUST THE OUT GROUP. However it need not control of lives

Oh joy! Someone named 14 words (google that) shows up with his confederate battle flag avatar and starts making the case for racism.

Got a problem with the confederate flag?

yes

I thought you liked flags?  That one's kinda' boring, but it is a flag.

TheOldReb

Maybe he should change his handle to Ilikesomeflags   Wink

bigpoison

I always kinda' liked this one.  It ain't a rectangle!

ilikeflags

that's not a national flag right?  what is it?  i love non-rectangular.  nepal and ohio are 2 kinda famous ones.

bigpoison

It's the "secession flag".

The iconic Confederate flag wasn't a national flag either.  You probably already knew that, though.
