Ranting of a frustrated tournament player

Easy. Some people are thoughtless jerks.
I'm sure there is a jerking contest somewhere.

Who would think a tournament is going to last for a year? Of course I'm going to take a vacation sometime during that period of time.

For a 7 day tourney to last a year, a person has to make at least 26 moves EACH, and each mvoe has to be like 6 days 23 hrs 59s. Then, after all that, just wait another hr after that and it's done :D

What are you talking about @TheElementalMaster? Here are a few of the tournaments I've been in. There are many more like it.
23rd Chess.com Tournament (1201-1400) started June 1 2013: 99% complete.
24th Chess.com Tournament (1001-1200)Started on September 1, 2013 at 5:29 PM 99% complete.
27th Chess.com Tournament (1201-1400)Started on June 1, 2014 at 3:05 PM Still in round one. 82% complete.

There is also jerk chicken.
Is that the chicken who ignores the pecking order?
That or they stand by the edge of the road and pretend they are going to cross just to mess with your head.

If the above remarks are being directed at me because of my "low" chess rating. I just want to say: Being good at chess doesn't' mean you're smart, it only means you're good at chess.

Even if I gave someone the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know that they would be on vacation when the tourney started..how can you explain when someone asks you to play and then they go on vacation after one move. Is this how they improve their rating by frustrated players just resigning to move on with their chess life. Okay, I need a drink!

I get frustrated by these people who try to win by frustrating too; but when I go on vacation I am usually out of range of wifi.....electricity and plumbing too for that matter. It's not something I can plan weeks in advance. I did stop playing in the big tournaments though as a solution.

I understand that people go on a real vacation, but I am referring more to the person that makes a move than has a vacation for over a week, makes another move, and then goes on vacaion a week and so on.

The little cape clad rodents in my house never use plumbing.

Everyone stop complaining
Yes, it is annoying but this will always happen when you are in Tournment that hasn't disabled vac.
I have been in game for 3 months with the player having 87 minutes to move. But I do not care, I play the rest of my games and wait until he times out

It would be fair to argue premium members should not get a better deal on vacation - that's a site policy issue.
I think chess.com is too generous with their vacation days to premium members. There should be a forced time-out if you are using more than X number of days on the same match.
When I was a freebie member, I was unable to join a 2nd tournament because someone was playing extremely slow.
Why do people join a move every three days tournaments and then go on vacation. If you know that you are unable to play the tournament, why join? All it does is hold-up the next round or stop freebies from joining another tournament. As long as it doesn’t change the top players (or seating for the next round), would it be bad sportsmanship if I resigned when I am playing the long vacation players? I'm definately going to make sure my next tournament is no-vacation.
