Rapid should be tougher. Much more time to find moves and less blunders

So I reached a rating of 2300 in Blitz a couple of months ago and took a pretty lengthy break from chess. In the mean time, I still watched chess content on YouTube and also played odds games against beginners and intermediates; as a result, it really felt like I got stronger as a player, and my performance against some irl people I know improved.
So, I figured, why not just raise my Rapid rating (which was 2200 at the time) to the level of my actual playing strength? Since I was 2300-strength a few months ago and am now even stronger, surely it shouldn't be that much of a challenge to get my Rapid rating beyond 2300, right?
Nope. I have played a ton of Rapid games throughout the past month, and I am hardstuck in the mid-2200s. Furthermore, a lot of the opponents that I'm facing also have Blitz ratings that are higher than their Rapid ratings. For example, I recently beat a Rapid 2250 whose blitz rating was... take a guess... 2700 (!). Obviously, that's an exception, but 2300-ish Blitz/2200-ish Rapid seems to be a very common combination.
Am I alone in finding Rapid tougher than Blitz? Or did genuinely get worse during the break and am just coping?
