Rating and marathon

I raised this in the past as well, the rating on Chess.com I feel is inflated, I am getting older (now 63), my blitz rating (5 minutes) is however 2448, whilst my FIDE rating is just 2200. What if accross the universe the ratings are decreased with 200 points, just to get a more realistic anchor, rating really implies a certain value. The second topic, if you see my rating development ovr the months and a significant drop in the rating when a marathon was held ( 3minutes (classified as blitz) I am probably too slow, but also I see many participants with a rating of 800 and 1000 playing like 2000+. (clearly a deflationary effect, but making participation to a marathon less attractive. (I Think many people just join for 1 day to participate and leave chess.com after.)

Chess ratings indicate the relative strength of a player within a certain chess community

Still if rating is mentioned in my mind (and of many I think) a link is made to FIDE rating. But you have a good point that one chess community can have different ratings and refer to relative differences.

People often think that there is some absolute chess rating and so we have topics like "Help, I am X-rated on the site A but only Y rated on the site B, I cant sleep now"

The 3 minute blitz time control is the strongest set of chess players without a doubt
