Here's the BDG I mentioned when I said I lost to the 1000ish player. I'm sorta scratch that really embarresed to show this but we all make mistakes so go easy on the insults please.

There you go again, terrible opening play.

f5 is the move from hell and one that BDG players pray for. It's greedy and very weakening, Nf6 is natural and correct.

I thought about that in the game but after 3...Nf6 4.Bg5/Bf5 5.Bxf6/exf6 6.g4/Bg6 7.Bg2 black stilll looks cramped anyway and with a blocked in QB.or 4...Nbd7 5.g3 black doesn't solve his problems. Can show me a good line coming from 3...Nf6

White is never going to play 4. Bg5, it's not part of the plan.

White is a gambiteer and will continue in proper fashion:

While the ultimate soundness of the opening may be questionable, the BDG players usually have an advantage because they know their turf inside out. So it's quite possible that the rating of the guy was for real.

Actually, the most surprising feature the BDG has is that it is the only real "Anti-Scandinavian"! 1.e4-players seem to be increasingly aware of this and spoil the fun for the center counter guys, so this got me off the once tempting idea to learn and actively try and play the Scandinavian against 1.e4

I don't think the possiblity of your opponents playing a risky gambit should have put you off.

You do have one other option too:  try to mess them up by playing 2... e6 (French) or 2... Nc6 (Nimzovich).
