Ratings and draws

Something about scoring makes no sense to me. Draws between players with similar ratings has no effect on either players ratings. I feel like this overlooks the colour played. Everything else being equal, shouldn’t white lose a point or two and black gain a point or two? Shouldn’t the white advantage factor in somehow? It just seems like better math to me but I’d like to hear some other opinions.
