in a recent game my oponent rated 943 resigned when well behind in points but my rating 873 remained unchanged. I checked the finished game with "view" and coouldn't find any reason.  WHY?

Scottrf

It was an unrated game, you can click the 'details' tab in the game window to check.

When I won a game on Dec 4 my rating increases by 0 to 963

Since then i lost to a rating of 908 and my rating dropped to 954

Sine then I Ha won over  1035 rating and a 1050 rating but my rating remains at 954

Can anyone explain this?

Scottrf

Yeah, I can explain it, and I did, 5 months ago...

johnherbert

you may have answered something 5 months ago but it certainly has no bearing on this i lost 9 oints when losing to a lesser rated oponent;OK?i then won 2 matches against highraters but my rate emained the same.

What my former opponents do in their other games should have no bearing on whhow they performed against me

JoshG354

Were they rated or unrated games?

ChessinBlackandWhite

They were unrated games. That means that they are just for fun, they will not change either players rating.

if you're talking about these games

http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=61733192

http://www.chess.com/echess/game?id=61454380

it says unrated on both which is why your rating did not change.  Chess.com has rated games and unrated games.  If you click details you will see these two games were unrated.  When you play unrated games your rating does not get effected by a win or a loss like it would in a rated game.

I did answer it, only rated games count towards your rating...

johnherbert

They were rated games

JoshG354

The two links I provided say unrated unless this is a mistake.

If you click on the games they say they were unrated, I don't know what else to say.
