What rating does a new chess player typically drop to from 1200? How long does long (hours of practice/play) does it take on average to get back to 1200?
I don't believe I've ever seen that studied. You didn't say what time control you are talking about for this 1200 rating you want. Looking at your ratings, I will assume you mean blitz or bullet.
You can review average ratings here- http://www.chess.com/livechess/players
and see where you stand in the universe of players on chess.com.
But you can't sort by number of games played or time as a member, so you can't see if the average player is improving.
You didn't reveal anything about yourself in your profile, so I don't know if you are young, old, how much you study (if at all), how often you play in tournaments, whether you work with a coach, etc. Improvement doesn't happen without hard work.
You have a long way to go to get back to a 1200 in blitz or bullet but you've only been a member here for two months.
