Reached 2000 in rapid

I noticed an interesting trend. Im better in 10 + 0 than in 15+10 . Simply changing the time control allowed me to reach this amazing rating. Right now Im going for the 2100 since 2000 is not enough.

GuerrierBerbere

I agree up to a certain point. However, are you rated to be so categoric in your opinion? Most of chess players here play 5+0 or 5+3. There is also a rapid fide elo, so i dont see why you think so clearly that is not an OTB ability.

GuerrierBerbere

The games are played in equally conditions for both. I dont see why you think that is not a merit or that it doesnt entails real chess.

Are you rated btw?

GuerrierBerbere

It has since I didnt know that it was advice from a better player or simply envy. Reach +2000 in rapid(10+0) games. Then, we´ll speak.

Its not a matter of who is right or who is wrong. Its a matter of attitude. Reach my rating if its that easy and then well speak. Dont write back please. If a titled player sees this he will point out several things but at less he would appreciate my hard work to reach this rating instead of telling me off. Dont write back please. Its not the kind of comment i was looking for.

Its funny how you dont have time to study chess but you have time to actually tell people how they must study chess. Im also into adulhood. Job as a chess instructor and a degree nearly finished. That isnt an excuse.

GuerrierBerbere

Bored. Enjoy your free of speech. I wont reply more. Soon Ill be playing against those titled players you simply repeat mindlessly.

@RubenIdafeHernandez you’re acting like a complete moron. As someone rated around 2000 OTB FortyPlusImprovement is completely right.

You're better at 10/0 because you obviously prefer moving fast to making good moves. 10/0 games don't at all correlate to actual OTB ability whatsoever. Put some time on the clock and add an increment. That's the only way to tell how good you really are.

All of this could be true, except for the fact that the OP has said nothing about being 2000 otb. And if he hasn't, you can't assume he cares about otb. Saying that it's not "real chess" just sounds like a cop-out excuse.

I'm also quite close to 2000 otb (uscf, different than fide, but not too much of a difference). He's right, but it doesn't mean the argument means anything since the OP doesn't say anything about his otb ability or that he cares about his otb ability.

10+0 pool is easier than 15+10 or 30+0. Simple as that.

If your rating numbers in a certain time control are higher than in another, this does not mean that you're playing better chess in that time control.

Actually, I am not really good at chess, but here’s my opinion about what you said: sometimes it does make difference in the time control. For example, let’s say a person could make good moves quickly but they can’t make tactics or strategies while playing 3 mins. But the same person takes sometime to make excellent moves and tactics while playing 10 mins. It does make them play better when playing 10 mins because it is what they are good at. Well, it might not be a good explanation, but this is my opinion, it’s not like I am professional player to say this.

Congratulations, a 2000 rating at any time control is a fantastic achievement, and nobody else can take that away from you.

But to see your real strength you HAVE to play longer time controls!

Yeah that’s right. Congratulations for getting 2000 rate in rapid! That’s actually what I am aiming for!

Why would most people care about their "real strength", and who gets to dictate what their "real strength" is? In my opinion your real strength is the time control you perform best in, because that's a strength in itself.

Thanks! I am actually spending 8 - 15 hours  each day practicing chess. Although I am still 13 years old, I have school and other things to do so it is hard for me to practice chess  that’s why I am trying my best to practice as much as I can! (8 hours in school days, and 15 hours in weekends )
