Reaching 2000 in blitz

I've reached 2000+ on soooo many other chess sites, but yet i cant seem to crack 2000 on here. Heck, my highest is 2126 on one of those sites, but no, cant get higher than 1996 on here. I mean i realize chess.com has the most comp, but 130 rating difference is very odd, dont you think? Is it just a mental thing this point instead of actual skill?

Could be mental. For example, when I'm 2000 blitz and I play a 1800 opponent, I generally will beat them. However, if I get in a slump and drop down to 1800, I find it can be very difficult to beat an 1800. I think it has to do with confidence and it works both ways - when I'm 2000 I feel confident I should beat the 1800 and he might not feel very confident - but if I am 1800 I have less confidence and he has more.

You might get close to 2000 and start to doubt yourself. Just keep playing your best chess and concentrate, and you will get there soon.

it is because lichess has 200 points higher base rating than chess.com. so a lichess blitz rating of 2000 is 1800 in chess.com.

My Stats,

Current chess.com blitz = 2005 ( max= 2101)

Current lichess blitz        = 2168 ( max =2271)

Lichess ratings tend to be higher.

You haven't played a rated game here in years.

Most <2000 players on chess.com suck, but a lot of masters get accredited here because Hikaru and Co. are being sponsored.

That’s my experience too.

I suspect the opponent’s confidence is a factor as well. People resign more quickly as my rating nears or exceeds 2000. I seem to cross that point once or twice a year, but then drop into another slump.

Confidence is 70% of the game in Blitz.

You could play the most ridiculous, blunderous move, but if it's played qickly i.e with confidence your opponent's intimidation + time pressure might pass it through.

This point is quite interesting. The point systems.

The proper mindset is worth maybe 100-200 points, at most.

Thats really interesting to know. Someone else said its about a 200 point difference, i feel like its closer to 150-170 difference.

I totally agree, on lichess I'm 2050 but 1650 here. I got a 400 rating difference.

Well its clearly not a 400 rating difference, you just havent played enough games here. Its still pretty odd to only be 1650 after 100 games if youre 2050 there.

Definitely.

But those 200 points separate the men from the boys, mostly.

I changed my mind, anything below 1500 in Blitz is usually not worth mentioning on here.

1400 Blitz players are certainly the lower tier benchmark though.

Is that chart just your own games? It seems its a 200 point difference. According to that chart it seems that if youre around 2000 rank over there, that its about a 195 point difference. I was expecting 150-180. If its just 1 persons results tho, obviously results will vary. If its multiple people results, then i stand corrected.
