Recent, 1 Move Blunder Trend

I am a 1500 or so Rapid Chess player, and recently I feel I fall into a lot of one move blunders.

And this is quite a big issue for me as I am competing in two major tournaments at the end of the year.

I am not sure why I have fallen into this trend, I do puzzles everyday, play when I can, study. And this kind of thing is abnormal to my regular play I feel.

Is this kind of trend normal? Where a strong player could go on a week or two of bad mistakes...

And what are some concrete steps I can take to remedy this? (Obviously I should take my time a bit more, and think about what my opponent wants) I am looking for certain exercises to help fix this.

Any help is appreciated.

I can relate for sure! I go through phases of this myself, see my rating go up and down and just have to try and be more disciplined with as you say, checking my opponents plan and thinking through lines a bit more deliberately. The fact is, sometimes it just happens!

Common issues:

Moving to fast.

Not using your time wisely.

Missing simple tactics.

Hanging material.

So sit on my hands and force myself to think everything through, before making any move. Got it.

Yes, I feel my patience has not been as strong recently, and obviously these misses are inexcusable.

sometimes, we all fall into a rut from time to time. here's some of mine, from a week and a half ago:

and here's the worst one of them all:

You will bounce back eventually. If you feel you are performing a lot worse than normal, it is best if you simply take a break and remove yourself from chess for a day or two. That's what I did after these games happened, and I lost about 60 points.

It’s just you since I highly doubt anyone else is in the chess.com discord

Just think of it as a group chat application that has extra features like screen sharing, etc.
