Ratings differ depending on where you play. The club will understand if you explain you are 1200 in rapid on chess.com and 1800 in rapid at lichess.
The difference is mostly explained by the fact that everyone starts at 1500 at lichess while people can start at 400, 800 ,1200 or 1600 here.
Yeah I get it pal but there is such a huge swing on that liechess site compared to chess.com. I'm no way gonna use that rating. Yeah I get it, online is full of cheaters and Im logging into messages of chess.com because of suspicious activity and im being given points back. But if chess computers are so advanced now along with catching cheaters then why cant they use a FIDE rating system for online players?
Ratings are relative within a specific community, ratings in different communities are different in general. And it is not due to cheaters or other similar stuff.

The only ratings worth bothering about is fide or ecf. Online ratings are meaningless

Oh be quiet chessblackbelt. Some of us work and dont have time for a chess club or OTB tourneys. We relax and play online in the evening. But it would help if it was accurate now Stockfish can detect cheaters
I have no idea what that metaphor means but I'm 2600 lichess, 2400 chess.com and 1900 fide.
If somebody asks me for my rating I say 1900. I'd be laughed out the chess club if I said I was 2600 lol

What's a reliable online rating to use if you dont play OTB? I'm nothing special, here I'd say Im gonna bust out of 1100 into 1200 only because of hardwork since Ive rejoined but on liechess Im defeating 1800 players and got put in a game with an NM (whatever that means) and he beat me but not easily. It's like I'm trying to join a club and the dude on the phone is like what's your rating? Im like, I really don't know pal. It needs work and I wanna be smashed by stronger opponents to improve with an after game analysis. He must have thought I was smoking something
