Why on earth does my opponent, who is about to run out of time, get EXTRA TIME each time they make a move? I was ahead the whole game and had close to 15 minutes (!) left and my opponent with only 19 seconds left just makes a few fast moves (it was the late endgame already) and bumps his clock up to over 1 minute in a matter of seconds. I find this feature to be an extremely unfair win for him, he should've lost on time and if it really works like this then you might as well not have the clock feature at all. Sorry for the rant. This is the most stupid mechanic on this site that servers no other purpose than to pamper players who just took too long to make their moves and should've lost fair and square. This way it feels like i'm not actually rewarded for making my moves quickly and thinking quickly. I hope there's a way to turn this off because it's very annoying and i lost multiple games this way that should have been fair wins.
You were playing 15|10 time control games. With increment, time gets added to a player's clocks after their moves; in this case 10 seconds.
If you don't want that you should play non-increment time controls. Though clocks can still add some time in those, due to lag compensation.
