Has a woman posted here yet?

May not see one. At least not one making a serious comment.

This thread has turned into a stupid 'are women smart enough for chess' type thread and that subject has been done to death.

There are probably "are men smart enough to take care of the house while mom is gone or does he need some guidance" type threads too somewhere on the internet though.

Not that this thread hasn't been fascinating to read through with all the sexism and transphobia, but I wanted to throw in a paragraph I found on this site called chessquestions.com where they've given a mathematical answer.

However, WFM Rodrigo also mentions “cultural” reasons. Translated into mathematical terms I think she is suggesting that females have a lower mean (average) FIDE rating than males. This we can check by loading the latest FIDE rating data into a database and doing some SQL queries.

Doing that gives us:

Female – Mean = 1505, standard deviation = 339

Male – Mean = 1675, standard deviation = 346

We see that there is little difference between male and female standard deviation but the mean female ELO is 170 points lower than the mean male ELO. This is half a standard deviation which is a lot. It looks to me that WFM Rodrigo is right about this too.

Comparing these figures with the rating differences between the open (there are no male-only titles) titles and the female-only titles it looks like FIDE are being generous to the females by a margin of 30 points. Perhaps they rounded the difference up to the nearest hundred?

It’s an interesting topic tho woolly. Seeing as society in general is determined to get rid of the male and female genders and replace it with whatever gobbledygook comes out of the confused minds of the raving loony’s, then you do have to wonder how long the women’s titles will last.

That would be true if it was about equality. It is not.

We already have equality(at least in America). There is not a single law racist or sexist in intent nor institution discriminatory by policy.

This is about fooling people into believing there is no differences between men and women. You’ll note none of your strongest competitors like China, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, believe a word of it.

Thus when it makes women appear to be equal to men, such as allowing a 6 foot 6 bearded man pretend he’s a woman so he can break some women’s weightlifting record, it will be allowed.

While in the same breathe mentioning treating women differently in chess is obviously sexist will be totally ignored.

Because if you did that most women would be untitled.

The titles are a joke anyway.  Basically it is saying that women are inferior to men in the intellect department, and wouldn't be able to obtain a regular GM, IM, or FM title, so let's make it easier for them.  (The criteria to obtain these female titles is less than the regular GM, IM or FM titles.)

The USA has their own National Master titles, for which the qualifying criteria are easier than International Master.

Should we conclude from this that the people of the USA are intellectually inferior, and wouldn't be able to obtain a regular IM title?

Totally different thing

If two people, a man and a woman, need different criteria to reach the same title….the title is a joke
