Report Chat Harassment

LMAO thank you for proving yourself to be exactly the kind of person I'm talking about. Very helpful!

There is exactly one paragraph about the value of trash talking, I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong suit.

I want to make sure that everyone at the lower levels (sub-800, like myself) is reporting verbal harassment that they receive in the chat during games. I use this app to play and learn, and I am always surprised at the sheer amount of unnecessary rudeness and childishness that comes through the chat bars, especially at our level.
I have been a competitor all my life, so I understand the value of trash talk in the name of competition. I played several sports in high school and university, and I have always been involved in some sort of chess league or volleyball league, or TCGs like YuGiOh and Pokemon, and it can be motivating and hilarious when you and your opponent are ribbing each other, if not outright roasting each other.
What I have a problem with is when we're playing at a sub-800 level, and three moves in, I get a chat message that says, "poor playing, you suck." Bro, we're the same rating. I'm 450ish in bullet, but so are you. We're also playing a two minute game with one-second increments. Why are you taking the time to be piece of human garbage, rather than concentrating on your game? Also, I'm anywhere from 700-900 in rapid/daily, and it never happens at that level. I swear to Allah, it's the people who are rated under 600 that feel the need to act like clowns.
The point of this message is, if you experience this sort of unnecessary harassment, make sure when the game is over to send a report to chess.com. If you tap or click on the aggressor's name, you will get some options, including 'report', and when that screen opens, you can identify the exact report you are filing, and you can add comments to clarify why you are filing the report. The mods at chess.com are pretty good at following through with the appropriate discipline, and I genuinely receive about a message per month stating, "we have detected that one or more of your recent opponents has violated our Fair Play Policy." But, the mods won't know who to discipline if we don't tell them.
Also, I'm certain there are some people reading this and thinking, "haha, this guy is a wuss who is crashing out over a loss." It's not about me. I am a pretty easy-going guy who has many hobbies outside of chess. Jerks on chess apps don't register in my day. What concerns me is knowing that there are likely thousands of others experiencing what I've experienced on the site and the app, thousands of people who might be discouraged to use the app, thousands of people who might not think to report the jerks who are jamming up the chat bars with pointless, hurtful comments. People like me want to learn and grow with chess, whether it's a hobby or whether it's an obsession, and if you are one of those people, then we can be friends. If you're a d-bag who sends negative words in the chat, then grow up.
