Requirements for a Title

Hi All!. Can anybody explain to me in a easy-to-understand way what are the requirements that anyone has to meet to become a

a) Candidate Master

b) FIDE Master

I have read the Fide Handbook, but it's not quite clear.

My understanding is that you basically just need to have a FIDE rating above a certain level - 2200 for CM and 2300 for FM.

The rules for the higher titles, IM and GM, are more complicated and involve norms, but for CM and FM it's mainly just on your rating.

I'm still not sure how I could go an attain a Fide Rating ... gonna have to do some research.

go to hungary or reykjavik for a tournament.i think you would get a fide rating then

 You have to look for IRT (Internationally Rated Tournaments) tournaments in your own city. You need to play at least 4 games against FIDE rated opponents in order to obtain a FIDE rating yourself. 

I don't have a FIDE Rating yet, in the last IRT tournament participate, I was only able to play against two FIDE rated players....
