A virtue none the less !
Resignation ( Dunkirk spirit )

I was recently asked ,after losing, why i hadn't had the good grace to resign when defeat was inevitable. Defeat was pretty much certain as it took my opponent only a few moves to march my king to the side of the board where the coup de gras was administered. But lets remember. Defeat is only certain if he plays the right moves. A short lack of concentration and my king could of escaped and who knows what then.
This, however, wasn't the answer that i gave him at the time. I simply explained that i'm English and we NEVER give up !
Oh. I think there are plenty of ex-colonies who would disagree with this.

I'm having a hell of a time finding players down here. It is like a chess wasteland.
Playing online is great. But sometimes it is nice to play someone face-to-face.

I see your problem. Where i live is just a "wasteland", period !
I've tried teaching the kids at my school (chess) but they are only interested in the Thai version with the odd shaped pieces.

I played that version for a while. I got annoyed with all the stalemate possibilities.
I did have a few students who were interested in Western chess. Even turned learning chess into a lesson for my classes. But, yeah, in the end most were not interested and the rest wanted to play Thai chess or checkers(Mahkot).
