Resigning is annoying.

Resigning is a sign of respect. It's saying, 'hey, you're better than me, you've outplayed me, and I'm not gonna make you convert an obviously winning position because I respect you.' It's considered part of the etiquette of the game, and especially if you guys progress in skill, you'll have to learn to deal with it. Alot.

Resigning is better than abandoning.

Ufff, you're the type of people who check profiles.

Says the person that just complained about a guy's time on chess.com after checking his profile.

Nah resigning isn't respect it's a preference do you want to play out the position or waste less time and get another game in

Maybe it started out that way, but over the years it's evolved into a sign of respect.

Well yes it is kind of annoying but if you don’t see hope then yes it should be agreed on.
I think it takes away a little bit of the fun of crushing someone.

Resigning DOES complete the game.

Check and see how often Grandmaster games are played out to checkmate. Less than 1%?
