The a3 or “Mengarini” Sicilian is a powerful, offbeat opening. It’s not played at the highest level because if black knows how to handle it there’s no advantage to playing it over the more conventional options in the Sicilian. However, as a blitz or bullet weapon at any level (and in any time control for us amateurs), it can win you a lot of games if you study the lines.
I achieved a winning position in ten moves over an IM in otb bullet (the clip is on my instagram Curry_Chess_Clips if you’d like to check it out)
And this is why interposing moves is not good! After 15. …Nxh1?? instead of recapturing with 17. …Qxd7 it was all over. Beautiful checkmate, I just looked at your game!

And better yet, it’s all over anyway after Qxd7 as my knight on a3 defends a bishop skewer 
glad you liked the mate - very satisfying!
Wow I didn't even see that - sorry to correct you but - bishop pin! So he would have had to recapture with the king, right?

Yes, recapturing with the king is probably their best option, though after qa4+ that looks completely lost anyway!

And in STYLE, too! Hey all. I hit 2100 again today, levelling my all-time highest rating of 2106. The game was (nearly) perfect, as I had a better way to win earlier, but nevertheless this was a fun one. Hope you enjoy!
